You’re Not Stuck—You’re in a Detour

Let’s shift something right now.

You’re not stuck.

I know it feels that way.I know it looks that way. I know the exhaustion is real.

But what if this season isn’t a dead end…what if it’s a detour?

Because detours don’t mean you’re done. They mean the path looks different than you expected.

When Life Feels Heavy

There are seasons where everything feels like a lot. You’re showing up for work. You’re showing up for family. You’re trying to show up for yourself… but you’re tired. Not just physically tired—emotionally tired. Mentally tired. The kind of tired that sleep doesn’t fix. And in those moments, it’s easy to tell yourself:“I’m stuck.” But stuck suggests there’s no movement. And if you’re still waking up, still trying, still pushing—even in small ways—you are not stuck.

You are navigating.

What a Detour Really Means

A detour forces you to slow down.

To reassess.

To take a route you didn’t plan for.

And while that can feel frustrating, it can also be refining.

Let’s look at someone who lived that truth in real time—Viola Davis.

Before the awards, before the recognition, before becoming one of the most respected actresses in the world—her story was marked by deep poverty, instability, and struggle.

She grew up in a home where basic needs weren’t always met. She’s spoken openly about hunger, about shame, about feeling invisible.

That could have easily been labeled as being “stuck.”

But it wasn’t. It was a detour.

A painful one, yes—but one that shaped her resilience, her voice, her depth.

And when you watch her now—when you hear her speak, when you see the emotion she brings to every role—you’re witnessing someone who didn’t avoid the detour… she grew through it.

That’s what’s possible for you too.

Not overnight. Not perfectly. But intentionally.

3 Questions to Help You Move Through This Detour

You don’t need to overhaul your entire life right now.You just need to take the next honest step.

1. What is one thing I can release this week that is draining more energy than it’s giving? This might be a commitment, a mindset, or even unrealistic expectations of yourself.

2. When have I felt even a small sense of peace or clarity recently—and what contributed to that moment? Don’t overlook the small wins. They matter.

3. What is one small, manageable action I can take today that moves me forward—even 1%? Not perfect. Not big. Just intentional.

Anchors for the Journey

Let these sit with you. Let them speak to you in the moments you feel like giving up.

  • Isaiah 40:31“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

  • Philippians 4:13“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”

Strength doesn’t always look like pushing hard.Sometimes it looks like continuing—quietly, steadily, faithfully.

Your Call to Action

For the next 7 days, I want you to do something simple—but powerful.

Each day:

  • Answer one of the questions above

  • Reflect on one of the scriptures

  • Write one sentence about how you showed up for yourself that day

That’s it.

Because getting out of a detour doesn’t happen through pressure. It happens through consistency. And slowly, you’ll start to notice something shifting. Your energy. Your perspective. Your belief in what’s possible again. You’re not stuck. You’re just on a path that’s asking you to grow differently. And you’re allowed to take your time getting where you’re going.

Every day gives you another opportunity to start again. You’re not stuck—even if it feels that way. Things can look completely different for you in the next 3 months. Speak that over your life and move like you believe it.
